terms of use
These terms govern your use of the Scena website at myscena.app and the Scena app (together, "Scena"). By requesting access, signing in, or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Scena.

2. what scena is
Scena is a personal art diary. It lets you log the exhibitions and venues you visit, photograph artworks and their labels, and keep a private record of the art you experience. Scena is currently in early beta: features may change, break, or be removed, and the service is provided on a best-effort basis.
3. eligibility and access
Access is granted by invitation from the waitlist. You must be at least 16 years old to use Scena. You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since Scena uses passwordless magic-link sign-in — anyone with access to your inbox can sign in as you.
4. your content
You keep all rights to the photos, notes, ratings and other content you add to Scena ("your content"). You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process and display your content back to you so the app can function — for example, storing your photos privately and sending an artwork label to our AI processor to read it (see our privacy policy). We do not sell your content or show it to other users.
You are responsible for your content. Please only upload photos you are allowed to take and keep. Do not use Scena to store unlawful content or to infringe anyone's rights.
5. acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or infringe the rights of others while using Scena;
- attempt to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours;
- disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or probe the service for vulnerabilities without permission;
- scrape, resell or commercially exploit the service or its data;
- upload malware or misuse the AI features to generate unlawful content.
6. ai label reading
When you scan an artwork label, Scena sends that photo to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to read the artist, title and details. The result is a best-effort reading and may be incomplete or wrong — you can always edit it. Details of this processing are in our privacy policy.
7. availability and changes
Because Scena is in beta, we may add, change, suspend or discontinue features at any time, and the service may be unavailable from time to time. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes to the service or these terms where we can.
8. ending your use
You can stop using Scena at any time and ask us to delete your account and content by emailing hello@myscena.app. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms.
9. liability
Scena is provided "as is" during beta. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under German law — in particular for injury to life, body or health, for intent or gross negligence, or under the German Product Liability Act. We are not liable for the accuracy of AI-generated readings or of third-party venue information.
10. governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection rights of the country where you live remain unaffected.
11. changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the service or the legal situation changes. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version. If a change materially affects you, we will let you know by email or in the app.
